hello world 🚀

I’m Nayem Alam, and I like designing, public speaking, learn about the start-up sphere, and love playing basketball. I also like to travel around the world and love grilled cheese, to name a few.

I am currently doing my BEng at McGill University, with a major in Electrical Engineering and also a minor in Software Engineering. I aspire to become a full stack engineer working with clients directly. Another part of my life aspirations is to become a well-known motivational speaker.

When I’m not in school, I like to play basketball, workout and spend time with family. I’m always excited to work on projects as I’ve been continuously working on Speak Up which is a unique slam poetry competition to give our youth an outlet to express themselves. I also have a side hustle, Emreld, which is a web design agency putting clients first to help jumpstart their business(es). Finally, I had crazy passion in grade 7-9 making YouTube videos!

At school, I’ve devoted my extra-curricular time to being the head of marketing of McGill’s Junior Council. The project manager, director of corporate relations and web designer for the National Organization of Business & Engineering and the web master for McGill Chem-E Car. Finally, I'm currently working closely with the McGill EngInE team to curate the McGill Design Consultancy; our goal is to build a centralized place for all design-related questions and demands for the McGill community.

Developed RESTful endpoints using SpringBoot
Used vault (HamachiCorp) to securely store selected db credentials
Created docker images and ran them in multiple containers
Developed a dual layered encryption method using Cipher and base64
Learned how to use lombok and elementary lambda expressions
Implemented multiple string similarity algorithms using fuzzy matching (edit distance, dice coefficient, jaccard index)
Additionally, implemented an algorithm which takes the positioning of words into account. If words match in a string, where are these words located

Produce a site road map and flowchart of both companies (Pharmascience and Pendopharm) using draw.io
